You tired of being tired?
Midland Storage offers you more ideas for a better night sleep .
* Light it up. Part of a body’s circadian rhythm (not to be confused with an insects’ “cicadian rhythm”) is based on sensing light patterns. To sleep well during the night means getting adequate exposure to natural light during the day. Many modern office buildings are set up as a cubicle maze under fluorescent lights. If someone works in such a common environment, they can go all day and not get that all-important sun exposure .
If that’s your setting , purposefully take your coffee break outside the office. Walk around the building and get some sun . If you’re at home, open up the curtains and invite in as much natural light as possible into your house.
Not only will sun light help you sleep at night but it will increase the Vitamin D levels in your body. Most of us are chronically deficient in Vitamin D, which has a major affect on overall health. Proper exposure to sunshine helps to remedy that issue.
* Blacking out. When it’s time to sleep , keep your room dark. Even with your eyes closed they are able to sense light in the room. The more pitch black the room the better you will sleep. This is especially true if you work a graveyard shift and have to sleep during daylight hours.
Many of us habitually relax at the end of the day by watching TV. And many of us fall asleep doing that. It’s not healthy for good sleep. Light at the end of the day inhibits melatonin production. (This goes for working on your laptop and desktop computers, too.)
It is far better to fall asleep reading or listening to relaxing music. Remember, the key at night is to relax your mind, not stimulate it. So don’t watch Terminator movies right before going to sleep.
* White out. Obviously we want to alleviate loud noises when we’re trying to sleep . Yet some “white noise” may actually help. Sometimes turning on a fan is good enough . Ambient noise at low levels can be very relaxing. Programs like ambient-mixer.com have a variety of background sounds ranging from rain to ocean waves to the background noise of a restaurant, depending on how hungry you are.
If you prefer total quiet, consider using soft foam ear plugs or if you are an extremist, having your ear drums removed.
* Cool it off. Remember how well you slept during those cold winter nights with your bed piled with blankets? And remember the tossing and turning you do when the room is sweltering in the summer? You’ll sleep much better in a cool room. So turn the temperature down and/or open the windows in the spring and fall. (If you do leave your windows open, sleep with a hammer under your pillow so you can clobber any criminals trying to break in.)
Lubbock Self Storage knows that a key to productivity during the day is to get good sleep at night.
Sleep better and be happier.
